Photo from Fred Hill
Reconnaissance photographs were taken in the days leading to the drop, and Rock Force officers were taken on bombing missions over the island to get an idea of its topography. Unfortunately, there was little time available to have the information transferred to the maps which were supplied to the 'troopers. Although detailed maps of Corregidor had been available pre-war, for some reason they were still classified TOP SECRET and were denied to Colonel Jones. The photograph above is of the 92d Garage area, formerly the seaplane ramp. All Corregidor's prisoners had been confined in this area for over two weeks before being transferred to Bilibid Prison in Manila.
