These are the three tanks landed by the Japanese
prior to the surrender. One of them was an American M-4 which
had been abandoned on Bataan. It was the only tank which had
been able to negotiate its way across the invasion beach, and it was
used to drag the two Japanese tanks from the beach towards the
action.
The tank in the foreground is the American M-4.
As the vehicles are headed towards South Beach, it is likely that
this photograph was taken as the vehicles were being withdrawn
from the island.
