AUSTRALIAN PARACHUTE RIGGER
- there had been some initial trepidation at hiring women from Gordonvale to become parachute riggers - though this was soon discovered
to be an effective and worthwhile arrangement for all involved. In order
to keep the parachutes dry in the high humidity of North Queensland, the
area's first air-conditioned building was built at Gordonvale. Though
the building has not survived until today, its concrete floor has
survived as a public tennis court. |
