Astride the path between Herring Field and the Junior Officers houses, used to sit this lonely outpost of home. One year it went the way of the souvenir, disappearing into a private collection in James Ravine, where it was ultimately destroyed in a typhoon. We found a rusty "U.S. MAIL" the only remaining reminder.
"Fortunately, I sent the prints U.S. MAIL to my mother, and she put them in her album. The prints were my only possession which survived the war, and when my mother was laid to rest, they became my fondest memento of those bitter-sweet days. "
