AWAITING IDENTIFICATION
and caption
The USAT SEA CAT travelled on to Port
Moresby where we expected to soon be ashore. To our surprise, after
the launch from the harbor control officer came out, the ship
weighed anchor and headed east. This was news to most, but I
was one of the small group who suspected that we were heading for
Milne Bay. No one believed us. Why would we head for Milne Bay? No
one knew, but to Milne Bay we went in the early morning of 15 April.
But on the 16th, back out we went and turned north following the
route of the "Cannon Bar", but traveling much faster. SEA CAT
ship rounded Cape Sudest the next day and dropped anchor in Oro Bay.
