- Exercise 13 July 1944. " He must have been there a
while to have that cigarette hanging out of his mouth. When I
broke a bone in my right foot, at Green Field in North
Queensland, a medic came by taped my ankle up and directed
me to an ambulance standing at the edge of the field. I don't
know why the Medic has a pencil and paper and is writing stuff
down. Where's his ankle tape? The way the chutes are
littered across the field, it was a heck of a lousy jump, they
