"B STAGE"
in the second week built elementary skills needed for
parachuting. Jumping from platforms four to six feet high
taught the terchniques of landing to absorb shock while
minimizing injury.The 34-foot mock towers, an idea borrowed
from the Germans, taught proper exit techniques from an
airplane door, but also acted as a psychological screening
mechanism that washed out many an aspiring paratrooper. The
swing landing trainer simulated an actual parachute landing.
Students also learned to pack and care fortheir main and
reserve parachutes during this and later stages. .
