JAPANESE PROPAGANDA

Japanese efforts at influencing the Australians utterly failed. The Australian troops needed no Japanese urging to be resentful of the conduct of their better paid American allies who, in their snappy uniforms, seemed to be settling in comfortably for the duration. "Over paid, over sexed, and over here" was the catchphrase. But what truly annoyed the Aussies even more were Gen. MacArthur's press releases using the phrase "Allied troops" as a substitute for "Australian Troops." What might sell well in the US doesn't always sell well elsewhere.
