Its full name is actually "The Pontifical and Royal
University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of The
Philippines" was founded 1611, initially within the walled city of
Intramuros. It was expanded to Sampaloc in 1927, when its main
building (pictured) was inaugurated. It would be used 1942-1945 as a
prison camp for foreign civilian citizens and residents.
