BATTERY MARSHALL OVERLOOKS BATTERY WILSON

Batteries Marshall and Wilson were each 14inch guns, operated by "E" Troop of the 59th C A. Wilson was knocked out on 8 December 1941, killing 5 men.  Battery Marshall continued firing up until several minutes prior to the surrender, making it the last effective Coast Artillery asset in Manila Bay.

Of the 428 men of Battery E of the 59th Coastal Artillery who were taken into captivity, known survivors numbered only 28.
