In the foreground is  Topside's trolley station, the last on the line.  The buildings facing the street are the Cine, the BOQ and the USAFFE Headquarters respectively. The quarters eastwards of the BOQ were demolished post-war, at the time that the Pacific War Memorial was built. The logic and reasoning for their destruction remains  somewhat unclear.
