The Post Commander's official residence at Corregidor was a single
residence. Other residences were on two levels, with separate
family quarters on each level. The higher ranking officers were
allocated the upper quarters.
Corregidor�s housing was determined by what could
survive the tropical climate and the termites. Concrete, corrugated
iron or tile roofs and as little wood as possible were most common.
Houses were raised up on concrete pillars, both for
cooling and to avoid the termites.
