B-24D Serial No. 42-40389 was assigned to the 400th Bomb Squadron, 90th Bomb Group.  On 18 October 1943, en route out of Port Moresby heading to Rabaul, this aircraft was shot down near Kerau.  The art is a very popular pose of Hedy Lamar's character "Tondelayo" from the 1942 film White Cargo.
