As we try to rest, the sky lights up and we hear our .75s firing
salvos. We do not see the explosions though the star shells keep
bursting towards the east for about fifteen minutes, and once again
all is quiet. I will learn later that a group of Japs, in the
hundreds, assembling somewhere east of Malinta Hill, never did have
an even chance to form their Banzai charge. I like those odds |
