INSIDE THE PERIMETER

 The afternoon of the first day was spent in stabilizing the positions within a fairly restricted area. Though the Japs hit our lines here and there constantly, their attacks lacked any coordinated plan. During the second and third days the perimeter was extended, and a somewhat tenuous thread of communication was established with the beach forces on "Bottom Side."
