The Japanese had also turned  Corregidor into a storehouse of  loot from Manila. The island almost floated on a sea of booze. If they'd intended to ship it home, it was far too late for that.  Maybe they didn't even know what they could do with it, they just took it because they could. It was too late for them to drink it - but not for us.  Included were Four Roses Whiskey and Bacardi Rum, both well appreciated - until the Officers took control.
