least five troopers on the beach between Cape Corregidor and Wheeler
Point await
a rescue inflatable from a PT boat cruising close to the shore; It was
easier (and safer) for the men who were blown short of the landing zones
to make their way down towards the beach and be picked up than, in some
instances, climb almost vertical cliffs through Japanese controlled
areas. |
