The
34th Infantry landed on South Beach in five waves, and this photo shows
the situation as the third wave heads towards the landing area on
Corregidor's South Beach (Code name during this operation 'Black Beach'), the second
wave withdrawing. Landing Zones A and B are clearly shown.
The area short of the married quarters (left foreground) remained under
Japanese control.
