Pfc Clifton L. Puckett, .Infantry.. United States Army. For gallantry in action on Corregidor, Philippine Islands, ...on 24 February 1945..

 

While withdrawing along Cape Corregidor, Company D became pinned down by intense enemy rifle fire from insurmountable cliffs, Pfc Clifton L. Puckett, although wounded, engaged the enemy in a firefight. He was wounded a second time but continued to engage the enemy. A third and ultimately fatal, wound caused Puckett to withdraw. For his Valor, he was awarded the Silver Star.
